Last month I returned from a month-long trip to see my family & friends in Togliatti, Russia. At night it got down to -30f, a temperature at which my eye lids froze with little icicles on them.
Inside, where it was warmer, I bought new clothes. Having lived in Ithaca (not exactly the fashion capital of the world) for the past four years, I was happy to be in a city of fashion again. I left feeling inspired to design & sew new dresses this spring after seeing the designs of several local Russian Designers. Specifically, there was one dress that I tried on that had a fabulously well-fitted top and tulip skirt. It was a casual yet classic design that could be worm most anywhere -- the sort of functional versatility I like to design into my custom dresses.
Despite the snow outside today it is toasty warm inside here at my studio, and I'm excited to be back home working on a custom wedding dress for a July wedding.
